1938 Tube Train

This tatty old ex-London Underground train, dating to 1938 is one of the oldest operational mainline trains operating in the whole of the United Kingdom.
British Rail bought these old vehicles from Transport for London (TFL) when they reached the end of their working lives in London, in 1992, and they've been heavily used on the island ever since.
The train seems to be in quite a poor condition, with much of the interior metalwork beginning to corrode away; especially at the bottom of the doors which lead between the carriages.

Whilst they might not be in the best condition, it's quite nice to see these relics remaining in use.
It's quite amazing to think that these machines were in operation throughout the wartime and are still operating such a vital service, albeit in a quieter and less busy environment, some 76 years on.
